ToneSketch
Privacy policy
ToneSketch collects no personal data. This page explains what the app does with your phone, in plain terms. Last updated 5 October 2026.
Who makes the app
ToneSketch is made by Ohr Wurm. Questions about this policy: info@ohrwurm.co.uk.
What stays on your phone
The tones you draw, their names and your settings are stored on your phone only. The app has no account, no sign-in and no internet permission, so it can't send anything off your phone. It contains no ads and no analytics or tracking.
Permissions, and why
- Modify system settings. Only used when you choose to set a tone as your ringtone, notification sound or alarm. Android asks you to allow it the first time.
- Contacts (read and write). Only used when you choose "Set for a contact". You pick one contact, and ToneSketch sets that contact's ringtone. It reads the contact's name once to show a confirmation, and doesn't store or share any contact information. Android asks for the permission only at that point.
When you save a tone to your phone, the app writes a sound file to your phone's Ringtones, Notifications or Alarms folder so Android can use it. You can delete these files at any time. If you share or save a tone as a file, it goes where you send it.
Backups
If you've turned on Android's backup (Google One / device backup), your tones and settings can be included in it, in the same way as other app data. That is handled by Android and Google under your own account and settings, not by ToneSketch.
Children
ToneSketch isn't directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
